Georgia senior Senior Kristyn Sandberg has been named to the Southeastern Conference Softball Community Service Team.
Sandberg is actively involved with Georgia’s Student-Athlete Advisory Committee, where she has volunteered in such activities as Walk with the Dawgs to School, Literacy Day, Shop with a Bulldog and various events with the Boys and Girls Club of Athens.
She has also participated in numerous Special Olympics activities, such as the annual SOAR Run, Prom and Field Day. Sandberg has helped with the collection of canned food in the SEC’s Together We Can Food Drive.
The Island Park, N.Y., native has been instrumental in creating Swinging for Shepherd, a home-run derby that features former Georgia student-athletes that benefits the Shepard Center, a private, not-for-profit rehabilitation hospital for people with spinal cord and brain injuries. This project hits close to home for Sandberg and the Georgia community as two Georgia baseball players have received treatment at the Shepard Center in recent years.
Sandberg has also been named to numerous athletic director’s honor rolls, dean’s lists and SEC academic honor rolls.
