UGA women’s golf team struggles at Stanford

STANFORD, Calif. — The Georgia women’s golf team posted a 304 in the opening round of the Stanford Intercollegiate hosted by Condoleezza Rice on Friday and sits in 15th among 16 teams.

No. 2 Southern Cal shot 276 to grab a six-shot lead on the field.

Freshman Harang Lee’s 3-over 74 led Georgia on Friday. The Bulldogs also counted a pair of 76s from Amira Alexander and Rocio Sanchez Lobato and a 78 by Manuela Carbajo Ré. Sammi Lee signed for a 79, Georgia’s drop score.

Individually, Sophia Popov’s 5-under 66 spotted her a two-shot edge on the leaderboard. For Georgia, Harang Lee is tied for 45th, Alexander and Sanchez Lobato are knotted for 62nd, Carbajo Ré is tied for 72nd and Sammi Lee is tied for 76th.
