UGA-Vanderbilt baseball opener rained out; doubleheader to begin at noon today

Heavy rain washed out Friday’s Southeastern Conference weekend series opener between No. 2 Vanderbilt and Georgia at Foley Field.

The game will be made up as part of a doubleheader starting at noon today at Foley Field.

The second game should start about 4 p.m.

Projected starters for Game 1 will be Georgia left-hander Jared Walsh (2-3, 2.33 ERA) and Vanderbilt left-hander Kevin Ziomek (7-1, 2.19). Starters for Game 2 will be Georgia right-hander Patrick Boling (2-4, 3.64) against Vanderbilt right-hander Tyler Beede (9-0, 1.07.

Georgia (14-24, 3-12 in the Southeastern Conference) has won two straight. Vanderbilt (33-5, 14-1) had a 14-game winning streak snapped on Tuesday in a 10-9 loss to Tennessee Tech.
