UGA softball earns pair of big wins at Winthrop Invitational

ROCK HILL, S.C. — The No. 24 Georgia softball team picked up a pair wins over Kent State and Western Illinois on Saturday at the Winthrop Invitational.

Georgia (16-7) powered its way to an 8-1 win over Kent State before defeating Western Illinois 13-3 in six innings.

Bulldog pitchers held their opponents to a .089 batting average, while the offense scored 21 runs on 22 hits and hit at a .407 clip.

Against Kent State, Geri Ann Glasco improved to 9-1 on the season in the complete-game, one hitter. She allowed one run on one hit and struck out seven.

Chelsea Wilkinson (2-1) earned the win for the Bulldogs against Western Illinois. She allowed three runs, two of which were earned, on three hits and four walks while striking out three in 4.1 innings of work. Morgan Montemayor also saw time in the circle for the Bulldogs, throwing 1.2 perfect innings of relief.
