Georgia freshman forward Marion Crowder was named the College Sports Madness National Offensive Player of the Week and Southeastern Conference Soccer Player of the Week on Tuesday.
The Madison, Miss., native already earned SEC Freshman of the Week honors on Monday after she scored five goals in Georgia’s weekend sweep of Long Beach State and the College of Charleston. She netted the game-winner in both games, breaking through in the 80th minute in the Bulldogs’ 1-0 win over Long Beach State on Friday before posting four goals against the Cougars on Sunday to become the first Georgia player to score four times in a game since 2003. Her offensive output pushed Georgia to a 7-1 record at the conclusion of non-conference play as the team is off to its best start since 2009 and first seven-game winning streak in 14 years.
Crowder leads the Bulldogs in goals (6) and points (13), and is tied for fourth in the SEC in goals and tied for eighth in points. Nationally, her goal count is tied for 28th.
The Bulldogs open SEC play this Friday night, welcoming 18th-ranked South Carolina to the UGA Soccer Stadium at 7 p.m.
