UGA soccer falls to Florida in overtime

GAINESVILLE – Florida’s Erika Tymrak scored a pair of goals Sunday – including the game-winner seven minutes into overtime – to lift the Gators’ 13th-ranked soccer team past No. 20 Georgia.

The loss snapped an eight-match unbeaten streak for Georgia (9-3-4, 4-1-3 Southeastern Conference) and marked the seventh time the Bulldogs played extra time. Florida is now 12-2-2 overall and 6-1-1 in league play.

Georgia’s Laura Eddy scored 11:05 into the contest and led 1-0 until Tymrak scored with 8:17 remaining in the match, ending Georgia keeper Ashley Baker’s string of four consecutive shutouts and 457 minutes, 8 seconds without allowing a goal.

Tymrak scored again with 3:02 left in the first overtime to notch the game-winner.

Georgia will conclude a five-game road trip when it visits Alabama at 8 p.m. Thursday.
