Georgia has a new official football depth chart out.
The post-spring pecking order at each position is the first depth chart the school has released since prior to the Liberty Bowl last December.
There were no big surprises as far as I see it.
Coaches have shared how the players were lining up throughout spring practice.
Head coach Mark Richt already gave the rundown of how the offensive line and secondary looked during his spring speaking tour.
The only uncertainty before the release for me would be if Caleb King would in fact be on top of the depth chart at tailback. He was indeed. Also whether Bruce Figgins or Zander Ogletree would get the nod at fullback. Figgins, the senior who can still play some tight end, is ahead.
A few other things that caught my eye:
–Walk-on Brandon Harton is third-string tailback ahead of redshirt freshman Ken Malcome. Of course, freshman Isaiah Crowell will have a good chance to make a quick rise up the depth chart when he gets to campus.
–Brandon Boykin and Branden Smith are listed as co-No.1 at punt return. Richt said earlier this month that Boykin was a legit candidate at that spot.
–The backup offensive tackles listed are Austin Long and walk-on Hugh Williams, but Richt said that Kenarious Gates will be the first option at tackle if either Cordy Glenn or Justin Anderson goes out.
