UGA-Northwestern softball game halted with teams tied

The softball game between No. 13 Georgia and Northwestern was halted after the fourth inning on Sunday due to Northwestern’s travel arrangements.

The game began at noon but had to have five complete innings played by 2 p.m. for the game to be official. The teams were tied at 5-5 at the time that play concluded. There are no plans to resume action or make up the contest.

Georgia finished the 10th Annual Georgia Softball Classic with a 3-0 record, with wins over Campbell, Middle Tennessee State and Northwestern. Among the wins were a pair of five-inning victories by the Bulldogs.

Georgia plays Colorado State at 1:30 p.m. Thursday as part of the Mary Nutter Invitational in Cathedral City, Calif. The Bulldogs are then slated to play Oklahoma at 4 p.m.
