UGA men’s basketball to open season on Nov. 11 vs. Wofford

Georgia will open its 2011-12 men’s basketball season against Wofford on Friday Nov. 11 at Stegeman Coliseum.

That’s one of three nonconference dates the school confirmed on Tuesday.

Georgia also will play home games against Furman on Dec. 23 and Winthrop on Dec. 27.

Wofford, which played in the NCAA tournament last season after winning the Southern Conference’s automatic bid, will make its second visit to Athens in the last three seasons.

The Terriers defeated Georgia 60-57 on Nov. 17, 2009.

Furman finished 22-11 last season. Winthrop went 13-17.

Georgia also will play again this season against Mercer, this time at home, but that date is not yet set.

The nonconference schedule also includes games against Cincinnati, Georgia Tech, Xavier and Colorado and in the CBE Classic that also includes Missouri, California and Notre Dame.
