Georgia’s annual Mark Richt Camp will be held Saturday, kicking off the sprint that is the summer recruiting season.
The Bulldogs are expecting to host a slew of top-level prospects in the days leading up to the event with high school 7-on-7 passing league tournaments. This is one of the most critical recruiting weeks of the year for Georgia as it sets up the run up to Signing Day in February.
Athletes expected to attend include: 2015 Langston Hughes outside linebacker D’Andre Walker, 2014 Locust Grove safety Cortez McDowell, 2015 Griffin wide receiver and Georgia commit Christian Owens, 2015 Mays outside linebacker Natrez Patrick, 2015 McEachern running back Taj Griffin and 2015 North Cobb quarterback Tyler Queen.
Many of the most talented players are younger prospects, but the recent past has shown that Georgia typically makes its recruiting push for high-level prospects two summers before their senior seasons.
NFL first rounder Alec Ogletree visited Georgia for the Mark Richt Camp in the summer of 2009 as a rising junior, as did Knowshown Moreno in 2005.
Georgia will host dozens of high school teams on Thursday and Friday before the actual Mark Richt Camp that is the focus of many high-level prospects on Saturday afternoon.
