Three Georgia players drafted in MLB Draft

Three Georgia players were drafted on the final day of the MLB Draft Saturday.

Nelson Ward was selected in the 12th round by Seattle with the 351st pick. The 5-foot-11, 17-3-pound junior shortstop from Marietta played in all 56 games this season and led the Bulldogs in RBIs (34), walks (33) and multiple-hit games (18). He hit .306 with 64 hits and 10 stolen bases.

Junior Jarrett Brown was drafted by Seattle in the 22nd round. The Mariners selected the 6-foot-2, 185-pound pitcher was chosen 651st overall. The Conyers native appeared in 19 games and compiled a 1-1 record with a 6.67 ERA this season.

Junior Hunter Cole of Moore, S.C. was selected by San Francisco in the 26th round. Cole, a 6-foot-1, 186-pound third baseman, appeared in 53 games this season for Georgia and led the team in batting (.319), hits (66) and doubles (14).
