Georgia’s Melanie Margalis, Andrew Gemmell and Chase Kalisz earned bronze medals on Saturday as the USA Swimming Phillips 66 National Championships concluded.
Margalis, a rising senior, came in third in the 200-yard individual medley with a time of 2:12.34. Gemmell, also a rising senior, took third in the 800-meter freestyle as he stopped the clock in 7:57.83. Kalisz, a rising sophomore, placed third in the 200-yard individual medley in 1:58.52.
Earlier in the National Championships, Gemmell and Kalisz qualified for the FINA World Championships, as did rising senior Shannon Vreeland, rising juniors Nic Fink and Jordan Mattern, and former Lady Bulldog Megan Romano.
The World Championships will take place July 28-Aug. 4 in Barcelona, Spain.
Also on Saturday, Vreeland took eighth in the 200-yard individual medley in 2:15.68 and Ty Stewart came in eighth in the 200-yard individual medley in 2:01.45.
