TE Rome won’t play in bowl game

Tight end Jay Rome’s season is over.

There had been some talk that redshirt sophomore could return for the bowl game after missing the final three games of the regular season with a foot injury, but Georgia coach Mark Richt said that won’t happen.

The redshirt sophomore from Valdosta had nine catches for 99 yards without a touchdown in eight games.

“He missed a lot,” Richt said. “It’s a shame. At least it’s not his senior year.”
