Blog: Scott-Wesley’s G-Day

Justin Scott-Wesley should have a memorable G-Day game Saturday no matter what happens on the field.

The redshirt freshman receiver said recently that his father, Johnny Wesley, is “coming home soon. He should be out at the beginning of May.”

Those that follow Scott-Wesley on Twitter know he’s shared about his father being in prison. Scott-Wesley didn’t want to say why his father was incarcerated, but said he was being held in Mitchell County and when he got out it would be “like the light at the end of the tunnel.” He said he visited him there when he went home for Christmas break.

“I talk to him almost once a week,” Scott-Wesley said. “He asks me how I am doing. Basically he just encourages me. He knows the type of guy I am and how hard I work. He’s telling me to keep my head in the books and do all the things necessary off the field.”

Scott-Wesley updated his followers this morning with this: “Earlier this week I wrote a letter 2 the jail my dad is locked up in. I asked them if they could release him early so he could come to G-day.” And then added: “Let’s just say it all worked out for the best!”
