BIRMINGHAM, Ala. — Rocio Sanchez Lobato shot a 2-over 74 Thursday to pace the Georgia women’s golf team on the first day of the Southeastern Conference championships at Greystone Golf & Country Club. She sits in a four-way tie for third place with the Bulldogs 18-over par and also in a four-way tie for third three storkes behind leader LSU.
Sanchez Lobato’s day featured a pair of birdies on the front nine, but four bogeys, including three on the back nine, put her over par.
The Bulldogs’ Manuela Carbajo Re and Kaley Walsh shot 5-over 77s and are tied for 18th individually, and Emilie Burger and Amira Alexander shot 6-over 78s and are tied for 27th, giving the Bulldogs a one-day total of 306.
LSU shot a 15-over par 303 followed by Alabama (16 over) in second and with Georgia, Kentucky, Mississippi State and South Carolina tied for third at 18 over. Kentucky’s Sarah Harris and Stani Schiavone are tied for first individually after opening rounds of 1-over 73.
