Update: Here’s the first version of story of Richt’s new deal and Greg McGarity getting contract extension:
–
Blog from earlier in day:
Georgia football coach Mark Richt’s contract still isn’t approved.
The scheduled 2:30 p.m. meeting of the executive committee of the Georgia Athletic Assocition board was postponed until 5:30 p.m. today because there weren’t enough members for a quorum.
A mix-up in the dates caused the confusion.
Georgia president Michael Adams had pulled into a parking lot between appointments in Atlanta to get on the call.
“This is where I spend about a third of my life,” he said on the teleconference.
“How’s the traffic over there?” board member Bob Bishop asked from the Butts-Mehre building.
“Congested as usual,”Adams said.
We already know Richt’s deal will get three more years to run through the 2016 season. Athletic director Greg McGarity has said that the total salary will remain at about $2.81 million. Richt’s performance bonuses are being doubled.
Stay tuned for this evening for more. We should get details of Richt’s buyout.
