Blog: Recruiting hire gets six figure salary

Georgia’s newly created position of Director of On-Campus Recruiting comes with a six figure salary.

Former high school coach and athletic director Daryl Jones will make an annual salary of $110,000, according to information obtained in an open records request.

Georgia shelled out $140,000 to hire former Penn State strength director John Thomas and $85,000 to bring aboard new speed coach Sherman Armstrong from Tampa. Both are assistants under football strength and conditioning director Joe Tereshinski.

Jones, who reports to head coach Mark Richt, is “responsible for the organization and execution of official and unofficial visits at the University of Georgia and assisting the Football Recruiting Coordinator with the direction of on campus recruiting,” according to the job description. He oversees two full-time employees, an intern/GA and student workers.

Jones spent 17 years working in Georgia high schools including at Glynn Academy, Griffin, Wayne County, North Oconee, Oconee County and Grayson.

He was more recently the Under Armour manager of football games, combines and 7-on-7 projects.
