Quick hits: UGA coaches’ clinic to draw in 300 high school coaches

Former NFL coach Jon Gruden is the featured speaker today at the two-day UGA coaches’ clinic, which has attracted about 300 high school coaches. Scheduled to also speak at the clinic today: Emanuel County Institute’s Chris Kearson, Gainesville’s Bruce Miller, Eagles Landing Christian’s Jonathan Gess, Sandy Creek’s Chip Walker, Buford’s Jess Simpson, Norcross’ Keith Maloof and T. McFerrin, who retired from Jefferson. Former Georgia kicker Blair Walsh also will address coaches. … Murray said the defense won the day in Thursday’s practice. “They got us,” Murray said. “We’ve got to come back out (today) and put one back in their face a little bit.” … Fullback Merritt Hall returned to practice after missing most of the last week with a turf toe injury, he said. Hall said he got two goal-line snaps in the scrimmage. … Receiver Rantavious Wooten (illness) and linebacker Brandon Burrows (concussion) missed practice Thursday.
