Quick hits: Pyke, DeBell start on O-line in scrimmage

Greg Pyke and Zach DeBell were the starting offensive guards on Saturday.

DeBell, a 6-foot-6, 273-pound redshirt junior, played in one game last season, but Georgia coach Mark Richt said he did well.

“When a guy goes right down the middle of him, it’s kind of tough on him at times,” Richt said. “When you’ve got to pull and get out in front of a screen pass or pass protect, people trying to edge rush him, he does very well.”

… Richt said the defense ‚Äúpretty much dominated‚Äù third-and-long situations Saturday while the offense went 4 of 4 in goal-line work.

… Georgia‚Äôs new defensive coaches experienced their first scrimmage in Sanford Stadium. ‚ÄúWe saw a little different side of the coaches,‚Äù Drew said.
