Quick hits: DL Smith still dealing with nagging ankle injury

Defensive lineman Garrison Smith is still bothered by the ankle injury that knocked him out of the Georgia Tech game. Smith lagged behind in sprints in practice on Saturday, Georgia coach Mark Richt said.

“Usually he leads the pack, so I know he’s hurting still,” Richt said.

… Asked if freshman J.J. Green could have another role next season, Richt said: “He’s a running back. We like him there.” Richt said using Green, recruited as an athlete, at receiver or cornerback “hasn’t been a topic of discussion at all.”
