Quick hits: DE Jones possible for bowl game; media honors TE Lynch

Georgia defensive end Abry Jones looked good running in practice on Thursday as he tries to return following ankle surgery. “It’s definitely a possibility (he plays),” coach Mark Richt said. “I think it’s more of a probability now just watching him run today. I think today gave him more confidence. He’s not in the best condition right this minute. I think he ran about as fast as he could and felt good.”

… Tight end Arthur Lynch is the second recipient of the “G.A.T.A” award — Gracious Attitude Towards Answering — voted on by beat writers who cover the team. The award is now permanently named after linebacker Christian Robinson, the inaugural winner. “Can the head coach ever get the award?” Richt asked. “When I avoid questions, I lose the award.”

… Georgia moved up practice a couple of hours on Thursday to avoid the rain but still got heavy rain in the first 10 minutes before it stopped. There were a couple of “mild fights at the end of practice, which tends to liven things up,” Richt said. Georgia wraps up practices on campus this morning.

… Richt said he would wait until Georgia arrives in Orlando, Fla., on Dec. 26 to address any academic casualties.
