QBs Bauta, Ramsey battling for No. 2 spot in scrimmage

The competition for the No. 2 quarterback job gets its biggest stage so far today with the first spring scrimmage.

“Scrimmage is gameday, so that’s what we’re going to treat it as,” redshirt sophomore Faton Bauta said. “I’m pretty excited about it. I’m sure everybody is pretty excited to strap it on and go really fast.”

Bauta moved into the backup spot at the end of last season. He’s now competing with redshirt freshman Brice Ramsey behind Mason.

The quarterbacks may have to deal with more than just players coming off the edge.

Sanford Stadium could be soggy with rain expected, but the forecast calls for it to clear by the time the team practices in the afternoon.

“We play outside, so the elements are always a factor,” Bauta said.
