Pinkel: Apology was good statement

Associated Press photographer L.G. Patterson tweeted out a picture Sunday of Missouri defensive tackle Shledon Richardson shaking hands with Georgia coach Mark Richt after the game in what was characterized as an apology by Richardson for his “old man football” comment last week.

Missouri coach Gary Pinkel said Monday that was “not orchestrated by us,” according to the Columbia (Mo.) Daily Tribune.

“People make mistakes, you know, and get second chances,” Pinkel said. “That’s all part of maturing. I think that’s a good statement on his part in his own way.”

Richt hasn’t been available to speak to reporters since Saturday night.
