The No. 9 Georgia women’s tennis team won its Southeastern Conference home opener Friday with a 6-1 victory over Ole Miss.
After securing the doubles point, the Lady Bulldogs (8-1, 2-0) then reeled off victories in five of six singles matches.
Silvia Garcia put Georgia up 2-0 with a 6-1, 6-2 victory over Julia Jones at No. 3 and Maho Kowase then defeated Mai El Kamash 6-2, 6-3 at No. 2 to make it 3-0.
The Lady Bulldogs closed out the proceedings with Mackenzie Craft defeating Vief Vlaar 6-1, 6-4 at No. 6 and Mia King topping Marija Milutinovic 6-3, 3-6, 6-3.
