NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The No. 6 Georgia men’s tennis team assumed sole control of first place in the Southeastern Conference’s Eastern Division Friday with a 4-2 victory over No. 13 Vanderbilt.
After dropping the doubles point to the Commodores (13-5, 4-2), the Bulldogs (13-4, 5-1) evened things up at 1-1 when Garrett Brasseaux won 6-2, 6-4 at No. 6 singles.
Ben Wagland put Georgia ahead 2-1 with a 6-3, 6-2 win at No. 2 singles, and Nathan Pasha gave the Bulldogs a 3-2 edge with a 6-3, 6-4 victory at No. 3 singles.
Austin Smith clinched the victory with a 6-3, 6-4 victory at No. 4 singles.
Georgia will play at 1 p.m. Sunday at No. 4 Kentucky.
