Georgia Lady Bulldogs assistant coach Cameron Newbauer has taken an assistant’s job with the women’s basketball program at Louisville, the university announced on Friday. Newbauer replaces former Louisville assistant Michelle Clark-Heard who left to become the head coach at Western Kentucky .
Newbauer was the Georgia men’s director of basketball operations from 2005-07 under then-head coach Dennis Felton. He moved to Andy Landers’ Lady Bulldogs staff in 2007. Newbauer played a major role in recruiting the 2008 signing class that includes three starters from last year – Jasmine James, Jasmine Hassell and Anne Marie Armstrong.
Louisville went 23-10 in 2011-12 and made the second round of the NCAA Tournament before losing to Maryland 72-68. Louisville is coached by former Maryland assistant Jeff Walz.
