A week after special teams breakdowns were a major cause of concern for Georgia, a Bulldog was named Monday as the SEC special teams player of the week.
Kicker Marshall Morgan, who made all three of his field goal tries including a career-long 55-yard kick, got the nod while Georgia quarterback Aaron Murray was named SEC offensive player of the week for the second time this season.
Murray completed 20 of 34 passes for 298 yards and four touchdowns and ran for a touchdown in Georgia’s 44-41 win over then No. 6 LSU on Saturday. The senior also was named SEC offensive player of the week after a win over a top-10 South Carolina in week two.
Morgan, who was suspended for the first two games of the season after a boating under the influence arrest, accounted for 14 points against LSU. He was 5 of 5 on extra points.
