LSU tops Bulldogs in extra innings

BATON ROUGE, La. | The No. 13 Georgia softball team dropped a 5-4, eight-inning decision to the LSU Tigers in front of a packed house at Tiger Park in Baton Rouge, La., on Saturday, April 12. With the loss, the Bulldogs drop to 35-7 on the year and 9-5 in Southeastern Conference play. LSU is now 23-18 overall and 5-9 in the SEC.

Chelsea Wilkinson took the loss to fall to 21-5 on the year. She came in as relief with one out in the bottom of the sixth inning and threw the final two innings, allowing three runs, two of which were earned, on four hits and three walks. Geri Ann Glasco got the start and threw the first 5.1 innings for Georgia. She allowed two earned runs on one hit and three walks. Baylee Corbello got the win for the Tigers to improve to 12-6 overall. She allowed four runs, three earned, on seven hits and five walks. She also struck out six batters.

The Bulldogs got home runs by Katie Browne and Tina Iosefa, while Paige Wilson went 2-for-4 on the day. Glasco matched her own program record for walks in a game with four.

Georgia and LSU wrap up the series at 1 p.m. today.
