Lady Bulldogs’ Barbee earns SEC honor

Georgia guard Shacobia Barbee was named the Southeastern Conference’s Freshman of the Week for her efforts in the Lady Bulldogs’ wins against Ole Miss and Arkansas.

Barbee, a 5-foot-10 guard from Murfreesboro, Tenn., hit 6 of 7 from the field and scored 13 points with six rebounds and four steals in Georgia’s 73-54 win at Ole Miss on Sunday.

On Thursday, Georgia set a school record for fewest points allowed in an SEC regular-season game when it beat Arkansas 66-34.

Barbee scored four points and handed out a team-high six assists against the Razorbacks.

Barbee has started 26 of Georgia’s 27 games this season.

The No. 11 Lady Bulldogs (23-4, 11-3 Southeastern Conference) travel to Starkville, Miss., to take on Mississippi State on Thursday.
