Kreuger hits career-best time at regional

HOOVER, Ala. – Georgia junior Kristie Krueger won the school’s first individual NCAA Cross Country South Regional Championship on Saturday.

Krueger clocked a career-best 6k time of 19 minutes, 52.93 seconds to top more than 250 competitors in the race.

The Lady Bulldogs finished fourth (137 points) at the meet for the third straight season. Florida State (24) took home the team title on the women’s side while Florida (67) and Vanderbilt (102) also finished ahead of UGA.

With Krueger’s finish, she automatically qualified for the NCAA Championships in Terre Haute, Ind., on Nov. 20 for the second straight year.

Senior Caleb Vogt finished 28th in the men’s 10k race to lead the Bulldogs to a fifth-place finish after scoring 157. For the men, Alabama (30) picked up the team victory as Florida State (55) took second, Florida (76) finished third and Tennessee was fourth (150).
