Herschel Walker has no hard feelings if Todd Gurley and Keith Marshall give the stiff arm to being called “Gurshall.”
Gurley said earlier this month that he never liked the nickname tagged to the Georgia tailback duo early last season when the freshmen burst onto the scene en route to a combined 2,144 yards and 25 touchdowns.
Walker, the legendary former Georgia running back who the moniker was named after, was asked about the name `Gurshall’ fading away during an appearance on ESPNU at the SEC BeachFest in Gulf Shores, Ala, held Thursday through Sunday.
“I thought it was very cute, but I thought it was unjust,” Walker said. “Those guys are so good on their own. People always want to compare running backs coming to Georgia, running backs to Herschel Walker and I said, `I think that’s totally unfair’ because those guys have proven they can play and they have the right to be their own name and Gurshall is not a good name. I can’t even spell Gurshall. So that’s not a good thing at all.”
