Gym Dogs release schedule, slated to open season at home against Oklahoma

Danna Durante will begin her career as the coach of the Gym Dogs at home in Athens as Georgia begins the 2013 season against Oklahoma on Jan. 5 in Stegeman Coliseum.

Georgia will face four teams that made the NCAA Super Six last season, including national champion Alabama and runner-up Florida in SEC play.

“From top to bottom we have an incredibly challenging schedule,” Durante said in a release. “We will have many opportunities to test our skills and compete against some of the best in the country, starting the first meet against Oklahoma. This is a schedule that will prepare us for the postseason.”

Georgia hosts Alabama on Feb. 2 and Florida on Feb. 16. It also hosts Stanford onJan. 21 and Utah on March 9. the road schedule includes a trip to newest Southeastern Conference member Missouri on Feb. 22. Georgia has not been to Missouri since 2010 when it lost a second-place tiebreaker in the Columbia, Mo. Regional and failed to advance to NCAA nationals for the first time since 1984.

Georgia will also travel to Fort Worth, Texas for the Metroplex Challenge against Oklahoma, LSU,Oregon State and Washington on Jan. 26. The SEC Championships will be on March 23 in North Little Rock, Ark. The NCAA regionals are on April 6 and the NCAA championships will be held Apri. 19-21 in Los Angeles.
