Georgia’s Brandie Jay was picked as the Southeastern Conference’s Co-Freshman of the Week, the conference announced on Tuesday. She shared the award with Alabama’s Lauren Beers.
Jay scored a career-high 9.975 on floor exercise a 9.9 on vault as Georgia scored a season-high 197.8 at North Carolina State on Sunday. Her 9.975 was the highest score by any Georgia gymnast this season and the highest by a Gym Dog on floor since Courtney Kupets also hit 9.975 in 2006.
This is the second time Jay has been named SEC freshman of the week and the fifth time a Gym Dog has had the honor this season. Brittany Rogers has also been freshman of the week three times.
