Gym Dogs earn fourth seed for NCAA semifinals

The Georgia gymnastics team will compete in the first semifinal session of the NCAA championships on April 19 at 3 p.m. at Pauley Pavilion in Los Angeles. The fourth-seeded Gym Dogs will compete against No. 1 Florida, No. 5 LSU, No. 8 Minnesota, No. 9 Stanford and No. 12 Illinois.

The second session is slated to begin at 9 p.m. and includes No. 2 Oklahoma, No. 3 Alabama, host and No. 6 UCLA, No. 7 Michigan, No. 10 Utah and No. 11 Arkansas.

The top three teams in each session will advance to the Super Six on April 20 at 9 p.m.

Georgia’s rotation for the first session will be bye, bars, beam, bye, floor, vault.

The Gym Dogs (17-9-1) won the Corvallis Regional at Oregon State with a 197.425 — the second-highest score of any team in regional competition on Saturday.

Ten-time national champion Georgia is making its 29th appearance in the NCAA Championships.

The top four individuals from each session in each event (plus ties) from the preliminary team and all-around competition will compete in the individual-event competition on April 21 at 3 p.m.
