Georgia senior gymnast Noel Couch has been named recipient of the Tucker Dorsey Memorial Scholarship awarded by the Georgia chapter of the Blue Key National Honor Society.
The Tucker Dorsey Memorial Scholarship, which recognizes students for outstanding service and leadership, is named for a former Georgia student leader and Blue Key member who was the founder of the Blue Key Awards Banquet. The scholarship honors students dedicated to the University of Georgia, its heritage, tradition, ideals and goals and who exemplify the quality of mind and spirit that the university seeks to cultivate through a well-rounded education.
Blue Key Honor Society was founded in 1924 and has more than 300 chapters throughout the United States. The Georgia chapter was started in 1926 as the second chapter in the nation. Blue Key recognizes junior and senior men and women of outstanding character and ability who have achieved distinction for scholarship and recognition for service and leadership.
Couch, a four-time All-American, has been named NACGC/W Scholastic All-America in each of the last three years. A native of Towaco,N.J., she has competed in the all-around in a school-record 28 consecutive meets.
