Green, Swann finding their ways in Pruitt’s defense

Damian Swann has played cornerback and at the nickel “star” position already at Georgia.

Now, he’s working inside in the box in the dime package at the “money” position under new defensive coordinator Jeremy Pruitt.

“He’s looking good so far,” inside linebacker Ramik Wilson. “We’ve got to keep working and executing our plays and find the right guy that can help us in that dime package in third-and-long.”

Swann likes that role.

“It’s closer to the action and not really being isolated all the time,” Swann said. “It’s where a lot of stuff is going on.”

“Swann, he was showing up pretty good now,” outside linebacker Jordan Jenkins said. “Him and little J.J. They had some pretty good hits today.”

Sophomore J.J. Green, who played tailback last season, worked Thursday as the No. 1 nickel back.

“J.J.’s been great,” Swann said. “We’ve been in thud (not tackling to the ground). I’ve seen J.J. come up and put the equipment in some guys. That’s what you’re looking for when you have a guy of J.J.’s size (5-foot-9, 187 pounds) that plays in that box at that nickel spot. That’s what you like, a guy that can be in there and be physical.”
