Green gets lion’s share of carries in final scrimmage

It was a busy Wednesday night for Georgia tailback J.J. Green.

The 5-foot-9, 183-pound freshman got all but two of the tailback carries for the Georgia team in its scrimmage, rushing 12 times for 62 yards.

Freshman Brendan Douglas was out with a sprained MCL and Todd Gurley and Keith Marshall didn’t’ get any carries.

“I thought J.J. really took advantage of an opportunity to get a lot of reps,” coach Mark Richt said. “I thought he ran well, ran over a safety one time, got everybody excited. He caught the ball well, he’s been pass protecting very well.”

Richt said both Green and Douglas are capable of being the No. 3 tailback. Douglas won’t need surgery, but when he will return isn’t clear.
