Georgia softball team has record day with pair of victories

ROCK HILL, S.C. — The No. 24 Georgia softball team broke several records Friday during its victories over Delaware State (18-0 in five innings) and Winthrop (12-3 in six innings) during the first day of the Winthrop/Adidas Invitational.

Against Delaware State, the Bulldogs (14-7) hit a school-record seven home runs and scored 13 runs in the bottom of the second inning, tying a record set in 2010. Georgia also had 18 batters in the second inning, breaking the previous record of 17, also set in 2010.

Morgan Montemayor (4-4) earned the victory in the circle, allowing one hit to go with 11 strikeouts. Georgia players who hit home runs included Anna Swafford (who had two), Paige Wilson, Geri Ann Glasco, Tina Iosefa, Christine Olney and Katie Browne.

Against Winthrop, Geri Ann Glasco (8-1) got the pitching victory, allowing seven hits and three runs and striking out eight batters.

The Bulldogs got home runs from Iosefa, Kaylee Puaiola and Olney.
