Georgia men’s golf team slips, finishes third at Crooked Stick

CARMEL, Ind. — The No. 6 Georgia men’s golf team finished third in the Crooked Stick Intercollegiate on Tuesday.

Playing at Crooked Stick Golf Club, the Bulldogs had a final-round 8-over 296 to wind up at 17-over 881. Arkansas took team honors at 11-over 875.

Senior Michael Cromie paced the Bulldogs on Tuesday as he shot an even-par 72. Junior Sam Straka added a 1-over 73, followed by senior Keith Mitchell at 3-over 75 and sophomore Lee McCoy at 4-over 76. Junior Nicholas Reach had the Bulldogs’ non-counting score of 5-over 77.

Reach finished fifth individually at 4-over 220, eight shots behind Arkansas’ Sebastian Cappelan (212). Cromie and Straka placed eighth at 5-over 221, while Mitchell was 12th at 6-over 222 and McCoy came in 17th at 8-over 224.

Playing as an individual, freshman Greyson Sigg closed with a 6-over 78 to wind up at 13-over 229.

The Bulldogs will close the fall portion of their schedule Oct. 27-29 in the Kiawah Invitational.
