Blog: Georgia lands verbal from 2015 5-star athlete

From Dean Legge of DawgPost.com:

2015 Callaway High athlete Terry Godwin didn’t know what sort of reaction his commitment to Georgia’s football team would get Saturday morning, but the one he got wasn’t what he expected.

“They were speechless,” Godwin said of tight ends coach John Lilly and head coach Mark Richt.

Perhaps the Bulldogs are surprised by how well they are doing.

Godwin’s commitment is the second huge 2015 verbal in as many days. On Thursday night Nashville, Tenn., defensive back Rico McGraw picked the Bulldogs over Tennessee and Alabama. Terry’s commitment to Georgia is also seen as a win over the Crimson Tide.

“Godwin is one of the better 2015 athletes in the country,” Scout.com national recruiting analyst Chad Simmons said. “He can do so many things well on the football field. Godwin has great size for a corner, but is also an outstanding wide receiver. He could play free safety, too. But because of his size, quickness and ball skills, I see him as a corner.”

Godwin helped Callaway to a 12-2 record and a spot in the AAA state semifinals, and his commitment will continue serious momentum going into the new recruiting cycle.

Godwin is one of only three five-star prospects in the Peach State. The Bulldogs are considered a leader for another one of the five-star prospects, Westover defensive line Trenton Thompson.
