Georgia gets commitment from TE Jordan Davis

Davis commits to Georgia

ATHENS — Georgia added to their ever-growing recruiting class when Thomson tight end Jordan Davis picked the Bulldogs over Florida Sunday night.

Davis is the Bulldogs’ 23rd commitment for the class of 2013 – second most in the SEC behind only Texas A&M. The Bulldogs are ranked as a top five overall recruiting class by Fox Sports NEXT.

Davis is a three-star tight end according to Fox Sports NEXT. Playing that position for the Bulldogs was appealing for the local prospect.

“Georgia is like Tight End U,” Davis said. “I called Coach Richt and told him I wanted to be a Bulldog. I am already a Bulldog (at Thomson)…so it was perfect.”

Davis, who has gained 25 pounds in the last year, got a scholarship offer earlier this summer from Georgia’s head coach.

“I was warming up, and Coach Richt pulled me aside and offered me a scholarship,” Davis said. “He told me that they liked me a lot, how I could be successful at Georgia.”

Davis is the first tight end to commit to Georgia this year. He picked the Bulldogs after visiting Florida on Thursday. It is possible that Georgia could pursue one more tight end in its class because of the size it is planning on signing in February.

Davis is Georgia’s fourth commitment of July and the ninth in the summer recruiting season.
