Blog: Georgia Friday practice report (with QBs and TEs video)

We’re almost a week away from Georgia-Clemson kicking off the season.

Georgia is on the field this afternoon on one of the hottest days of the preseason for its practice.

Yes, safeties Tray Matthews (hamstring) and Corey Moore (knee) aren’t practicing. Shaquille Fluker (illness) is out there in a non-contact jersey.

Freshman Quincy Mauger is getting pushed up the depth chart with all of the guys out at the position.

Here’s some practice video of the quarterbacks and tight ends (who caught passes right by me)

We got a chance to see some drills with the offensive and defensive line going up against each other. Kolton Houston and John Theus, as we’ve reported, are both getting first-team reps. Sophomore Hunter Long got some second-team snaps at center, but Chris Burnette would probably come in for David Andrews in an actual game. Freshman Brandon Kublanow worked second-team guard.

Sterling Bailey and Garrison Smith were among those in the first group out there on the defensive line and Ray Drew, Mike Thornton and Toby Johnson later came in the second wave.

Receiver Rantavious Wooten (hamstring) was back practicing in a non-contact jersey. Tailback Brendan Douglas (knee) still isn’t practicing.
