Georgia baseball to open SEC slate at Texas A&M

Georgia’s 2013 Southeastern Conference baseball season will begin in unfamiliar territory.

The Bulldogs will start league play at SEC newcomer Texas A&M, Georgia announced on Tuesday. The series against the Aggies will come after Georgia plays 13 of its first 17 games at home.

The 2013 season begins on Feb. 15 with a three-game weekend series at Georgia Southern. Georgia’s home opener is against Kennesaw State on Feb. 20. Then it plays 12 of its next 13 at home, broken up only by a Feb. 26 trip to Georgia State. That extended home stretch includes weekend series against Belmont (Feb. 22-24), Alabama-Birmingham (March 1-3) and Liberty (March 8-10). Georgia’s non-conference slate also has traditional midweek series against Clemson and Georgia Tech.

Georgia’s home SEC series include Alabama (March 22-24), Missouri (April 5-7), Vanderbilt (April 19-21), Arkansas (April 26-28) and Florida (May 16-18). The conference road trips are Texas A&M (March 15-17), Kentucky (March 29-31), Auburn (April 12-14), Tennessee (May 3-5) and South Carolina (May 10-12).

Georgia is in the middle of fall practice. The Red-Black series will take place Oct. 13-23 at Foley Field.
