The Georgia soccer team landed four of its players, all seniors, on the Southeastern Conference Soccer Preseason Watch List announced Wednesday.
Defenders Torri Allen and Nikki Hill and midfielders Larua Eddy and Nicole Locandro were on the list, the third in a row for Hill.
Allen is a returning All-SEC and All-South Region defender, coming off a junior campaign in which she started all 20 games and logged the second-most minutes among field players with 1,811. She was a key component of the Bulldog defense that limited opponents to 1.10 goals per game in 2012 with six shutouts.
Hill also started all 20 games last season, leading Georgia field players in minutes with 1,842. In addition to joining Allen as an anchor on the back line, she tallied one goal and added two assists for four points on the offensive end.
Eddy returns to the field after missing the previous two seasons with ACL injuries. The Atlanta native and former SEC Freshman of the Year most recently played in 2010, when she saw action in all 21 games and started 19 times for Georgia. She scored two goals and tallied three assists for seven points, good for fifth-best on the team.
Locandro returns as the squad’s top offensive player from a year ago, as she paced the Bulldogs with four goals and three assists for 11 points. The Marietta native scored two goals in a game vs. both LSU and Mississippi State in 2012, and was 2-for-2 on penalty kick opportunities.
Georgia opens the season at 7 p.m. Aug. 16 at home with a exhibition game against The Citadel.
