Georgia added to its impressive recruiting pull Saturday with the commitment of defensive tackle Lamont Gaillard of Pine Forest High in Fayetteville, N.C.
Gaillard (6-foot-3, 315 pounds), considered a four-star prospect by Fox Sports NEXT and the No. 3 overall defensive tackle in the country, picked the Bulldogs over Clemson, Alabama, Florida, among others.
Gaillard is considered by Fox Sports NEXT to be the second-best overall player in North Carolina. The Tar Heel state has been good to the Bulldogs of late. Todd Gurley and Keith Marshall combine to form one of the top running back duos in the country.
New defensive line coach Chris Wilson has worked to make a recruiting impact for the Bulldogs in his first season. Georgia already has the top defensive tackle class in the country with the third-best (Gaillard) and ninth-best (Carrollton DT Dontavius Russell) prospects in the country as rated by Fox Sports NEXT. They could still add Tucker defensive tackle Elisha Shaw, who is still considering Ole Miss, Alabama along with the Bulldogs.
Gaillard’s commitment to Georgia moves the Bulldogs up to No. 2 overall in Fox Sports NEXT’s national recruiting rankings — ahead of No. 3 Alabama and No. 4 Texas A&M, but behind No. 1 Tennessee.
