Florida women’s tennis team tops Georgia

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – The No. 12 Georgia women’s tennis team won the doubles point Friday but that was all No. 4 Florida would allow as the Lady Gators posted a 4-1 Southeastern Conference victory.

The Lady Bulldogs are now 10-2 overall and 3-1 in the SEC while Florida – the defending NCAA women’s champions – improved to an identical 10-2, 3-1 mark.

“I thought we played outstanding doubles and really fought hard in all of our singles matches,” said coach Jeff Wallace in a university release. “We came up just short, but I’m proud of the way our team played.”

The Lady Bulldogs will play at No. 32 South Carolina at 1:30 p.m. Sunday.
