Georgia has added South Alabama to its 2014 football schedule, paying a guarantee of $900,000 for the game,
according to Bulldogs athletic director Greg McGarity.
The teams are scheduled to play on Nov. 8, 2014 in Sanford Stadium.
The Jaguars are entering their third season in program history after going 10-0 last year. They are making a transition to the Football Bowl Subdivision level and will be eligible for the Sun Belt Conference title in 2013.
“Georgia has obviously built a great tradition throughout the years, they’ve won national
championships and had hundreds of players play in the NFL,” South Alabama coach Joey Jones said in a university statement. “It’s going to be a tremendous venue for us to go up and play in, we’re excited about that.”
The Bulldogs’ 2014 nonconference slate also includes Clemson, Georgia Tech and Charleston Southern.
South Alabama has scheduled several games against Southeastern Conference opponents.
It will play Mississippi State in 2012 and 2016, Tennessee in 2013, LSU in 2016 and Ole Miss in 2017.
