Georgia’s Shaunae Miller on Friday was named the Southeastern Conference’s Freshman Runner of the Year.
The Bahamas native was third in the women’s 400-meters in a record 52.21 seconds at the SEC Championships and she also ran a leg on Georgia’s distance medley relay team that set a school record at the SEC meet.
Georgia also had 11 team members named to the conference’s indoor postseason teams. The three SEC champions – sophomore Garrett Scantling (heptathlon), junior Hilenn James (shot put) and freshman Chanice Porter (long jump – were named First Team All-SEC.
Sophomore Charles Grethen (800), freshman Maicel Uibo (heptathlon), junior Caleb Whitener (shot put) and senior Lucie Ondraschkova (pentathlon) represented the Bulldogs as Second Team All-SEC members.
