Bulldogs destroy Yellow Jackets

The No. 15 Georgia softball team routed Georgia Tech 15-1 in five innings, completing the regular-season sweep of the Yellow Jackets on Wednesday at Mewborn Field in Atlanta.

The Bulldogs showed their prowess at the plate, picking up 15 runs on 12 hits.

Chelsea Wilkinson got the start and the win for the Bulldogs (36-8) to improve to 22-5 on the year. She scattered just two hits and three walks in four innings in the circle. Bekah Farris closed out the game, allowing one run on one hit and struck out one batter in one inning of the circle. Kanani Cabrales earned the start for the Yellow Jackets and suffered the loss to fall to 7-8 overall. She allowed six runs on two hits, three walks and a hit batter. Kylie Kleinschmidt and Ashley Clifton combined for 4.1 innings, giving up nine runs on 10 hits and four walks.

Every player on the Georgia roster got in during the game, with every starter scoring at least one run. Paige Wilson and Geri Ann Glasco led the offense, picking up two hits and three RBI each. The Bulldogs also got home runs by Alex Hugo, Tina Iosefa and Katie Browne in the dominating performance.

The Bulldogs step back into Southeastern Conference play this weekend when they host No. 23 Auburn in a three-game series that is set to begin at 6 p.m. Friday.
