Keith Marshall picked the Bulldogs over Clemson at a ceremony at Millbrook High School on Tuesday.

“When I was in seventh grade watching Knowshon Moreno, I knew that I wanted to go to Georgia,” he said.

Scout.com rates Marshall a five-star running back prospect. He is listed as the No. 5 overall prospect in the country, according to the outlet.

Georgia coach Mark Richt, according to the running back, welcomed the news. Richt told Marshall he was so excited that he was going to “go run five miles” after speaking to Marshall on the telephone just before the commitment ceremony took place.

Richt should have a burst of energy from the news that Marshall is headed to Athens. The Bulldogs struggled with injuries and suspensions at the tailback spot this season – Isaiah Crowell, Carlton Thomas and Richard Samuel all missed time at running back while hurt or suspended.

Marshall’s family was pleased with his decision.

“We felt very comfortable with the Georgia staff and the players,” Keith’s mother, Denise Marshall, said. “We’ve always told Keith that success is who you are versus what you do.”

“Its easy when you have a kid like Keith — he’s motivated,” Warren Marshall, Keith’s father, added.

Marshall carries a 4.29 grade point average and plans to major in business. Marshall is well known for his speed on the field.

Marshall’s commitment means the Bulldogs have two of the top-five overall players in the country committed to them. Marshall joins Jacksonville, Fla., native John Theus, who is a five-star offensive lineman.
